Understanding temporary pre-authorization holds at gas stations
Updated over 10 months ago

1. Why is there a temporary pre-authorization hold of up to $175 on my Juno debit card at gas stations?

Unmanned gas stations typically place a temporary pre-authorization hold of up to $175 on your Juno debit card to ensure that your account has sufficient funds for fuel transactions. This initial hold does not represent the final bill amount but is a common practice to guarantee payment. Rest assured, the preliminary pre-authorization from the merchant does not reflect the final bill amount.

2. How can I avoid the 30-day wait for the release of the pre-authorization hold?

To circumvent the pre-authorization hold, we recommend paying the desired fuel amount at the cash register before refueling. The cost of the fuel will be subsequently charged in the same transaction, which releases the authorization hold.

3. What should I do if the temporary hold is not released after 30 business days?

If the temporary pre-authorization hold persists beyond 30 business days, please contact Juno support. Upon the release of the hold, the corresponding funds will be reflected in your Juno account balance. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we strive to address any concerns you may have regarding pre-authorization holds.
